Singapore Cable Car

My Research!

Singapore Cable Car comprises of 2 lines that provides two very different sceneries and experiences. The two lines are the Mount Faber Line and the Sentosa Line. Both lines have 3 stations and the visitors are free to alight at any one of the stations.

The Mount Faber Line journeys above the lush forest and the refreshing waters as it makes its way towards Sentosa island. It provides a scenic view of Singapore’s skyscrapers and it gives the passengers a glimpse of the whole Sentosa island. On the other hand, the Sentosa Line transports its guests within the island between different stations that are near desired destinations or attractions for visitors within Sentosa. It can be said that the Cable car is a secondary attraction.

Programmes

It’s not just about the scenery and destination, to One Faber Group, it is also about the journey. Hence, there is an amazing programme that the attraction offers which is called “Dining on Cloud 9”. It provides the experience of a romantic 4-course dinner with the charming view of the horizon and cityscape while traversing above ground as the sun sets. There are two packages available for choice namely the standard cabin and the floral cabin. It costs $288 for a standard cabin and $488 for a floral which is seemingly more prestige. It starts at 6pm and will last for 90 minutes. However, if the passengers arrive at 7pm, their experience will only last for 60 minutes.

To ensure that their diners have a good experience, One Faber Group is careful of their diner’s dietary needs and will change the menu upon request.

One Faber Group also caters to families and couples who are on a budget to dine onboard their cable car. There is a choice of $50 for a minimum of 4 people and a choice of $59 for a minimum of 2 people.

Both experiences are Halal as they contain no pork no lard.

For visitors who would want to just head towards Sentosa but would also like to grab a bite, there are restaurants atop Mount Faber Park. Restaurants such as:

Additionally, there will be a new addition which will be out soon called, "Dusk".

Price

All tickets purchased for the Sentosa Cable Cars are round trips. Tickets for the cable cars have discriminatory pricing as individual tickets for Mount Faber Line are $29 for adults and $18 for children that are aged 4 to 12. Whilst individual tickets for the Sentosa Line are $13 for adults and $8 for children. To make the experience more worth it for their guests, One Faber Group also offers a bundle pricing which consists of both Mount Faber Line and Sentosa Line which is priced at $30 for adults and $22 for children. I would recommend the bundle pricing as you will get to experience 2 cable cars close to the cost of the Mount Faber Line cable car!

Furthermore, there will be a 10% discount for both Cable Cars if the tickets are bought online. Not to mention, local residents get to enjoy an additional 5% discount on the Cable Car tickets! With just an additional $5 top up, the passenger will get unlimited rides for the whole day.

From 6pm onwards, Sentosa Cable Car will have extra discounts by skimming their prices to a more affordable rate to attract passengers into Sentosa. Passengers will be able to save up to 38% of the original price of the cable cars.

One Faber Group also provides packages that hold a surprise element for passengers that likes surprises. Additionally, there are bundles where the visitor will be able to pair their Cable Car ride with an attraction within Sentosa at a cheaper rate!

My Experience!

Located on the top of Mount Faber hill, I was not prepared for the arduous journey of climbing fleets of stairs and up the hill just to get to the Cable Cars. People who go to Mount Faber hill unprepared, with clothes that are hard to navigate will have a hard time making their way to the destination.

Regardless, as I reached the top of Mount Faber hill, the pleasing aesthetics and cleanliness of the place soothed my soul.

Here is the Bell of Happiness!
I'm contemplating about life...
They even have a Koi pond!

As I made my way towards the cable cars, there were couples and families who looked really enthusiastic to board. This was especially so with the children as they were looking at their parents with extreme excitement. The reason could be that riding a Cable Car isn’t something that one would do every day. This allows the passengers to fulfil prestige and gain bragging rights to their friends and families.

The staff that was serving me was really efficient. She immediately asked if I was a Temasek Polytechnic student upon presented with the paper that I have printed out. This shows that the staff are all informed about Temasek Polytechnic students coming to visit and are well-organised which leaves a good impression on me!

Honestly, as a person with acrophobia (fear of heights), I was not looking forward to the ‘take-off’ of the Cable Cars as I will be gliding through mid-air with nothing to support the bottom. Additionally, being with another friend of mine who also has acrophobia doesn’t help either.

However, it surprisingly turned out okay! I was able to take a few pictures after getting used to the height and immerse myself in the gorgeous scenery inside the Cable Car. It was truly amazing as I traverse from city life to nature at its finest. Moreover, I was quite surprised how the cable car was really smooth with no sinking sensation as compared to my previous experiences. From inside of the Cable Car, I was able to see attractions such as the Merlion and Adventure Cove!

However, what I disliked about the cable car ride was that the glass doors were pretty dirty. It obstructed me from looking down the sides of the cable car. Other than that, the Cable Car was really fast on transporting me between different destinations. This is an interesting and memorable experience that everyone living in Singapore has to at least try once.

Sentosa Merlion

My Research! A photo of me in Sentosa previously! The Sentosa Merlion is one of the main attractions within Singapore. It can be dubbed as one of Singapore’s most well-known icon. It is the tallest Merlion in Singapore with a whopping height of 37 metres! After the journey within the Merlion, visitors are rewarded with a unique view of Sentosa at the mouth and the head of the half-lion half-fish statue. Programme Screenshot from: http://merlion.sentosa.com.sg/explore-whats-inside.aspx Within the Merlion,  there are exhibition galleries where visitors will be able to enjoy learning about the origins and history of how Singapore was founded. As shown in the screenshot above, there are lucky statues which give a Prosperity Coin as a souvenir. There is also a section called the Prosperity Bell, a symbol for peace and prosperity, which can be rung for luck and positive energy. The main product within the attraction is the view at the mouth and the head of ...

Challenges

Challenges      Competition     There are other multimedia effects shows within Singapore such as the “light and sound show” within Gardens by the Bay and “Spectra”, a light and water show in Marina Bay Sands. Additionally, both multimedia effects shows are free for visitors to experience. This serves as competition to One Faber Group. Especially “Spectra” as it is also a water show and it has Water Pumps, 3D projection mapping and lasers. Hence, causing the experience at Spectra to have not much of a difference when compared to Wings of Time. As “Spectra” is free, people may want to visit Spectra instead of the Wings of Time.       Shelter      Within the location of the Wings of Time, there is no shelter. However, there will be no refunds for the show when it rains as the show will go on. This may cause unfortunate visitors to get caught in the rain and have an unpleasant experience. As visitors will not be given...

Wings of Time

My Research! The last attraction is an Award Winning Outdoor multi-sensory Night Show. It is the first permanent multimedia night show in the world that is stationed in an open sea. Collaborated and partnered with ECA2, an award-winning French show company, they have created several shows within Sentosa and at the location of the night show itself. A man-made attraction meant for tourism, The Wings of Time will most definitely give an interesting experience for their visitors! Programme Wings of time is a night show that tells a story of a Rachel and Felix’s adventure after meeting a pre-historic bird called Shahbaz through a series of the latest multimedia effects. The effects consist of fire, water, fireworks, 3D projection mapping and lasers which are bound to captivate their audiences.
